Love and thank you to my daughter Aline, for your strong support and help on “Winning Choices”. Your confidence in me has been constant and has added to my confidence in myself. Your belief in me and “the story that Dad has to tell” helped inspire me to continue through many times of diversion from our mission. Your growth as a caring and connected young woman gives me hope and inspiration for the future of our vision. I’m proud of you, Aline. Thank you.
Love and thank you to my daughter Meghan for your unwavering faith in me and for always reminding me in subtle and not so subtle ways of how far I’ve come in life and the kind of person you believe I’ve become on the journey. If I can be half the human being you see as your father and that I see in you, then my time on earth has meaning. I’m proud of you, Meghan. Thank you.
Love and gratitude to my ex-wife Betty for your sometimes tough love and support in the early days of our marriage, to help take me from the “street life” of a young man without direction or a clue as to how to behave in a normal world, to a proud, functioning father and husband for seventeen years. Thank you. Part of the “American Dream is that we work to give our children an opportunity for a better life than their parents had. Congratulations!
Love and thank you to my sister Nora, who courageously, amazingly, by determination, hard work and unflagging faith in herself, survived the utter dissolution of our family when she was just a little girl, overcoming enormous obstacles to bravely rise up to become an amazing mother, wife and sister and citizen. She is an incredible success story and her strength and positive, “never give up” attitude have inspired me for a lifetime.
